Work-Related Injury Treatment in Anchorage AlaskaWhen it comes to work-related injuries, there is often a lot of confusion around workers' compensation and whether or not chiropractic care is covered. Workers' compensation varies by state. However, in the state of Alaska, if you are injured on the job, Chiropractic care is covered under workers' compensation.

Here at Anchorage Spinal Care, we want to make sure you have information available to you. While we can provide you with basic information, you are required to still consult with your employer to discuss all your worker's compensation benefits, what is and isn’t covered, and any benefit limitations.

Chiropractic Care Is Covered Under Most Workers Compensation Plans

According to the Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development, under workers compensation, the injured party does have a choice of doctors, and that can include:

  • Medical doctors
  • Surgeons
  • Chiropractors
  • Osteopaths
  • Dentist
  • Optometrists

While Chiropractic is usually covered to some degree by workers' compensation, it is typically limited. If your medical doctor believes that your workplace injury would benefit from a more extensive chiropractic treatment, they must submit a written treatment plan within 14 days of the initial treatment.

Common Workplace Injuries That Can Benefit from Chiropractic Care

When most people consider workers' compensation, they typically think of massive injuries that occur on the job. However, the most common workplace injuries aren’t nearly as catastrophic as you may think. While falls and overexertion lead to many workplace injuries, other common injuries include:

  • Repetitive Motion Injuries: These types of injuries are the result of doing the same activities day-to-day. Think sitting stationary at a desk, typing for eight hours a day, six days a week.
  • Injuries from Falling Objects: These injuries can lead to significant head, neck, and back injuries depending on what fell, it’s weight and where it fell from.

How Chiropractic Care Can Help

Depending on the nature of the workplace injury, chiropractic care can help alleviate your pain and get you on the path to recovery. From manual manipulation, physical therapy, and massage therapy, Chiropractic care provides patients with an alternative to traditional medical treatment. In fact, it can complement many medical treatment options quite well.

Don’t Wait to File Your Workers Compensation Claim

With workers’ compensation, it is vital that you take action immediately. Most plans only allow for claims to be submitted within a limited time following the workplace accident, which means you must be seen right away, and a treatment plan submitted immediately. The team at Anchorage Spinal Care understands this and is waiting to help you get started.
