Exercises to Prevent Further Injury While Driving
Chiropractic care is highly effective in reversing damage caused by injuries, as it treats the whole body with a comprehensive treatment that gets to the core of the problem. But between sessions, you’ll have to be careful to not injure yourself even further. Since driving is a major part of our daily lives and requires physical strain on the legs, back, and even the neck, it’s important to keep your muscles stretched so you don’t wind up in even more pain.
If you’re looking for a chiropractor in Anchorage, AK, Denali Injury and Spine Center has provided the community with premium chiropractic, massage, and physical therapy services for more than 40 years. Our skilled and empathetic chiropractors customize plans for each patient to effectively treat their medical issues and sustain maximum well-being.
When you visit us, we’ll provide you with a personalized exercise plan for you to maintain your health outside our office. In addition, we recommend the following exercises to minimize the risk of further injury while driving.
1. The Figure Four Stretch
This seated stretch targets your hips, glutes, lower back, and hamstrings, and works to ease pain and stiffness in the lower back. Cross one foot over the other knee to create the shape of a four, and then lean forward, keeping your back straight.
2. The Neck Stretch
To perform this stretch, roll your shoulders back and pull your neck gently towards your shoulder. This releases tension in the shoulders, neck, and upper back.
3. The Pelvic Tilt
For a deep stretch in your hips and back, begin with both hands on the steering wheel and a straight back. As you exhale, cross your arms over the steering wheel and lean forward while pulling your back towards the seat. Repeat this stretch a few times.
